About Recover Mattress
As athletes and weekend warriors, we dedicate much of our lives to training and proper nutrition, but without adequate sleep, muscle gain is greatly diminished. That is because a majority of muscle repair and growth occurs during sleep when hormones are released.
Studies on sleep and recovery for athletes and testing numerous mattress compositions led us to conclude that a premium hybrid mattress offered the perfect fusion of premium pocket springs for support and high-density foam for pressure relief. Our research and testing confirmed that a hybrid mattress performed better for both primary athletic body compositions: (1) the dense muscular body composition of strength trainers and (2) the leaner body composition of endurance athletes with bony prominences as pressure points.
Next, we sought the BEST mattress components in the bedding industry. That led us to Leggett & Platt®, which pioneered sleep technology when it introduced the bedspring more than 125 years ago. They quietly supply best-in-class components and sleep technology to the leading brands in the bedding industry. In early 2017, we met with their executive team in Carthage, Missouri to develop a premium hybrid mattress for active lifestyles that promotes body recovery.
The spec was astonishing:
ComfortCore® fabric-encased innersprings that are comfortable, contouring, and durable. These individually wrapped coils isolate motion transfer to minimize partner disturbance. Additionally, each coil flexes and moves independently to deliver support where it's needed most.
An ActiveEdge™ tempered-steel coil perimeter, instead of weak foam encasement that causes that feeling of roll-off. ActiveEdge™ offers a durable, consistent sleep surface all the way to the edge.
Two layers of UltraHigh-Density foam overlay the premium pocketed coil system. The top foam layer is formed from 2 inches of gel-infused visco elastic foam for pressure relief and cooler sleep. The second layer is 1 inch of transition poly. What makes these foam layers superior to all-foam beds is the quality and durability. Leggett uses 4 lbs per cubic feet density, which is up to twice the density of all-foam beds that eventually succumb to foam sag.
We tested this mattress for a few months and fell in love with it. But a premium hybrid mattress with these components would cost over $2,000 for a queen size at the big box mattress stores. So we convinced Leggett to help us bypass the ENTIRE supply chain by supplying us with the industry's first ever "manufacture-on-demand" premium hybrid mattress. Next, we perfected production and fulfillment. Made in the USA by Leggett without ozone depleters, then roll-packed and shipped for free directly to your door in a box for less than half the price of retail. The Recover Mattress was born.
